Shut up......

(said with the best three year old boy voice that I can muster). So, D has been getting in trouble lately for saying "shut up". We had lunch with Tiff today and as we were walking out I said something that he clearly didn't like (probably something about a nap). He looked down at the ground and said "shut up". When we got in the car he found out that he was no longer getting a milkshake because he told me to shut up. He was quiet for a second and then said "I wasn't talking to you. My body told my head that it was stupid so I was telling my body to shut up". You have to give him credit for creativity.

Take note of the right side of the blog.....

You'll see that I added a few things. April now has a new blog with pictures of my ever so precious nephew. I've also added my dear friend Moriah. You don't want to miss reading her blog. She's the dearest friend that I've never met ;). She has the biggest heart that I've ever seen and lives and loves like nobody's business. Her blog always makes me cry, so grab some tissues before visiting =).

I also added a section of links to my photographer friends. These are the ladies that you guys hear me talking about. Very special ladies both professionally and personally.

Please let me know if anyone else has a blog or a business that you'd like for me to share.

A camping we will go.........

A camping we will go - Hi Ho the Dairy Oh - A camping we will go.

First of all, what kind of words are those? That makes no sense.

Never-the-less we're going on our first camping trip of the season. Paula and I made a teensy tiny mistake ;) and made reservations where we'll need to travel over a mountain (or two) to get there. They wouldn't let us cancel so I guess we're destined to go =). The flip side is the other place where we could get reservations would be mostly 95 travel so if we just take our time I think I'd rather have two lane roads than those crazies on 95.

So say a small prayer for us that our campers don't get down the moutain before we do ;).

Dawson's nap time

So, it's nap time and as I've been sitting at my desk he has come up with EVERY reason under the sun to get up.

I have to go pee pee - I agreed - he got up and I heard maybe one drop - he gets back in bed
feeling pretty confident that he just got one over on me.
Screaming (for no apparent reason) "Ohhhhhh Duuuuuu-uuuuude".
Mommy I'm scared up here by myself
Is anybody home? Well, are you?
He's been singing every song he's ever known including a few medleys of those same songs.
Mommy
Mommy
(Never mind that I've answered like three times already and now refuse to answer anymore).
Sigh
Louder Sigh
Growl
He lays there and puts on an occasional skit or two - typically with a battle between someone and someone else and usually their conversations with one another includes a lot of poo poo and pee pee.
Mommy I promise I'll listen to everybody tonight and I won't be wigglie or whine-ey or nothin'

Is naptime (and a few seconds of peace as I know it) over? Oh the horror! Say it isn't so!!!!!!!!!

Paracocks

So, I'm just getting out of bed. Dawson has apparantly been laying in his bed waking up for a while because he is READY to go. Me (hair is everywhere, my eyes aren't even consistantly awake yet - still have the eyes open, eyes shut thing going on). Dawson (barefoot, in mismatched PJ's with HUGE eyes) is screaming this question at me (or what seemed like screaming that early in the morning). Mommy, what's a paracock? Hmmmm, in my head I'm thinking "well that's a VERY good question". I said "honey, I'm not sure what a paracock is". He said "Oh you silly it's a colorful bird that lives in the jungle". He just walks away shaking his head and laughing like I am the dumbest person that walked the planet. This kid just cracks me up.

Reflection...

I'm doing lots of reflecting today. Our pastor has a way of bringing that out in me, but typically I'm running so much and so fast that I don't allow time for it to sink through. I just can't for the life of me figure out how to be a better person - a better mother, a better wife, a better Christian, a better friend, a better daughter a better sister.....well you get the picture. I feel lately that I'm running myself so ragged and spreading myself so thin that I don't have time to breathe. I feel like I'm suffocating sometimes.

I've always felt that even though for the most part my intentions and heart are right, the words that come out of my mouth don't convey what I'm feeling. I want to do more for people - for family, friends and other people that are in need. I think God places people here for a reason. Is my "purpose" photography? Sometimes I get so tired and stressed with running this business (mostly when I feel that my husband and son are getting pushed aside because of it). But when the dust settles and everything is ordered and I see the smiles on people's faces or the happy tears (customers and family) and I see the portraits hanging on the walls of people's homes, I think, yes I do love this. I love the fact that this moment in time will forever be preserved on their walls and in their scrapbooks.

It's always been important to me to make others happy and to make them feel special and good about what they're doing in life. On the flip side though, I think by being nice all of the time you can be liked, but not always respected. I hate (and I do mean that) to make anyone unhappy or to even disagree with what they're saying honestly, but I also believe that you have to be "real", you have to be who you are. Not in an ugly sort of way, but just in the face of being who you are and believeing what you believe. You have to be the same person at church, that you are in the grocery store, that you are at work, that you are in the quietness of your own home. I know that we all change a little when we're around other people and in different situations but I mean the true core of who we are. I struggle with this every day. I struggle with even the faintest thought that someone is upset with me (it's obsessive really) and it just nags at me until (typically) I'll talk to that person and realize there wasn't even a problem to begin with. I wish that was something that I could change about myself.

I haven't posted in a while because business has been so crazy and I'm really struggling with how to get this three year old under control. Jeff just built a new patio in front of the house and since I'm taking July and August off, I'm really looking forward to a few months to spend with Jeff and Dawson. I want to play with Dawson during the day and I want to have more alone time with Jeff. I want to have friends and family over more. I want to work on my own pictures that I've not done anything with since D,s first birthday. I want to camp. I want to go to sleep early and wake up early. I want to have time to sit and listen to nothing. I want to have time to sit and listen to Dawson's ever flowing jabber =). I want to have time to get my weight under control. I want to breathe. I just want to breathe.
