Daddy.......

On our way to Bible study last night this was the conversation in the car.....

Daddy, where are we going again?
Bible Study
Daddy, what does that sign say?
20 mph
Daddy, what time is it?
6:30
Daddy, is it nighttime?
yes
Daddy,Then why is it kinda still light out?
Because it's early evening
Daddy, what is early evening?
Hey D, why don't you look for deer
Daddy, are there any deers?
I don't know, you need to look.
Daddy, do deers hyberate?
Do you mean hyberNATE?
Yes, that's what I said hyberate.
No D, they don't
Daddy, why don't deers hyberate?
Because they aren't able to dig holes
Why? Because they have slippery feet?

At this point I am crying from trying not to laugh out loud and I'm slumped down in the seat. It's actually amusing when you get to listen and don't have to actually answer the gun fire like questioning.

Hey D, don't you have any questions for mommy?
Nope. Daddy, let's talk about the deer.

And on and on it wen't (as always)
Ohhhhhhhhhh, good stuff!

Brown-chitis

So D wakes up this morning and says that he has Brown-chitis. He has had a pretty bad cough for about 4 or 5 days so since he was out of school today anyway I had him checked out. He walked into the Dr's office and hopped up on the table and told the Dr that he had Brown-chitis. The Dr. looked at me and I just shrugged and said "I never told him he had that". Well, guess what? He has Brown-chitis! LOL Dr. D at your service!!

School Update!

D is LOVING his new school - just loving it! I am shocked because change is hard and he is getting through it with flying colors. When I went to pick him up his first day the teacher smiled and said "He did GREAT and made LOTS of new friends today". She of course knew nothing about the fact that he had been really pulling away from kids lately so she had NO idea how great that was to hear! He knows two of the kids in the class and didn't even play with them, he just started fresh. We had a snow day today (what would have been his third day) and he said that he was disappointed that he didn't have school. So glad to hear that because before we made the switch he whined every day because he didn't want to go to school. So thanks for the prayers guys. They are definately working!

So, the day is here......

D is at his new school for the first day. He's doing fine..........his mom not so much. I, of course, was so focused on how he was going to do today that I didn't even see this coming. I mean for heaven sake it's just two more mornings! I've never been a big fan of change. This is big change......and it involves my baby! Thankfully after we dropped him off in the cafeteria with his teacher and other classmates, we had to go drop off some paperwork at the office. Our pastors wife is a teacher at his school and came up to tell us that he was down there doing GREAT! That was so nice to hear because when we walked away we just got this deer in the headlights look from him. I smiled and told him we'd be back in just a little while to get him. So it was so comforting that she spoke with him for a minute and that he was coloring and seemed to be doing just fine. He looked at her and said "Where are all the new kids?". She just laughed and said, "Well, YOU'RE the new kid". He's so funny. His teacher has been there forever and is apparantly very good, but strict. I think that's the hardest thing today. I never shed a tear when he went to preschool this year because his teacher wouldn't miss a chance to wrap her arms around the kids and tell them she loved them. This class wont have the same feel. I'd like to think that she softens up at times so that he can see a glimpse of that. It's 8:42, is it wrong if I go pick him up four hours early? ;)
