A site you don't want to miss.......

Thanks Tammy K for this fun filled evening of reading. This site needs no real introduction.

Fridays.......

I wish that I could say that Fridays feel like the end of the week, but often the beginning of my "official" work week typically. Since D started school we've been using Fridays as mommy and D's day out. We've been to the park to ride our bike and play on the swingset, chuckie cheese and today we wen't to the movies. We saw Barnyard and it was pretty cute. Definately a lot of little hidden comments for adults in that movie. At first we walked into the theater and we were the only ones there. He couldn't have been more excited because he discovered that he'd be able to talk as much as he wanted. Fortunately for me ;) four other people walked in so he had to be quiet. He did a pretty good job with the exception of the few exciting moments of the movie where he jumped up screming "RUN RUN RUN" or pacing back and forth in our empty row. I have to say that mommy and D's day out at the movies was a success and we both had a great time!

I vow to get more sleep

Okay, I was hoping that if I put this on my blog that I then have to be accountable. For soooo many reasons, I need more sleep. I need more patience. I need better control of my eating. I need to be more "with it" than I am with no sleep. So anyway, we'll see what happens =). I have a session due tomorrow evening AND I have bible study tomorrow night and a field trip to the apple orchard in the morning, HOWEVER, I'll work all of that out because I'm going to bed!

What do I want my son to remember?

When Dawson looks back on his young life, what will he remember?

Well, he will remember a mom wh0 fusses at him quite a bit (which I wish that I could change, but it is what it is). I just hope when he thinks back he remembers the hugs he got after getting in trouble more than actually getting in trouble in the first place.

I hope he remembers the time that mommy spent playing with him more than the mommy that's working on the computer. I hope that he remembers that he had a mommy who thought that the sun rises and sets on him. A mommy who busted her butt to get a business going to financially contribute to the family, while being able to stay home with him. I hope he knows how sad his mommy was for having to miss most of his soccer games (his first year) because she scheduled apts too far in advance. I hope that he's happy that mommy made every effort to be on every field trip possible.

Will he remember having a spotless house? Nope! It's clean but not always "neat". What I do hope he remembers is the time rather spent reading to him and playing with him, but also the time spent helping others. Not just people states away that are in peril, but friends and family who need a shoulder to cry on or some words of wisdom. That sometimes takes a little time away from him, but I hope that helps to weave him into the caring person that I hope that he will become. I hope that he "loves his neighbor as he loves himself", but finds a careful balance in doing that and spending most of his time with his family.

I hope he remembers time spent with family and friends who love him so much!

He'll for sure remember a daddy who loves him more than anything. A daddy that is home for dinner almost every night and most nights is found playing soccer outside with him or jumping on the trampoline. A daddy who in the rare occasion comes home late, but makes an effort to come home even earlier the next night to spend extra time with him. A daddy who is stern but is even more loving and who is forever giving him giant hugs and kisses. There is no question how much his daddy loves him.

There are days of constant bickering, that Dawson and I sometimes have, that I am so concerned that he'll look back on his childhood and remember that. I have to say though that the good days by far outweigh the bad days and that he should never have to question how much his mommy and daddy love him and how we'd do anything in the world for him.

I love flowers for no reason =)

I think that's better than having a reason for getting flowers =). I don't know what on earth I did to deserve this, but it was so unexpected and so so sweet of my mom. Dawson and I wen't out to run an errand and when I got back I had flowers and a note waiting on our kitchen table. Thanks mom!!! I love you!!

Here's the funny D story that goes along with this (there's always a funny Dawson story). He was mad at me as we walked in because I told him that he had to take a nap (always the nap). As we walked in the door he called me a poopy head or something under his breath. He was saved by the flowers because I was too excited about my treat to fuss at him =). I read him the note and said "SEE SOMEONE LOVES ME TODAY!" (I know.....who's the four year old here?;). So he stomps up the steps and sits on the potty before his nap. He called down the steps.........

Dawson: Hey mom
Me: Yes
Dawson: Well..........I love you too (said in a not so convincing voice)
Me: Thank you honey
Dawson: I love you because you take me to chuckie cheese, play with me outside, let me jump on the trampoline, "take me" a bath, read to me (I can't remember all of it)
Me: (Almost in tears at this point and really trying to absorb the conversation) said thank you Dawson, that is very sweet
(long pause)
Dawson: Well.........why do you love me
And of course I have a laundry list for him as well. This kid can be so stinkin cute sometimes and you never know whether it's going to come during a loving moment or a poopy head moment =).

POWERFUL video!!

http://www.youtube.com/p.swf?video_id=SmLhyPjHVes&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//sjl-static14.sjl.youtube.com/vi/SmLhyPjHVes/2.jpg&t=OEgsToPDskIvhJAgXbxWa8d0Axsy4DOq

Make sure your sound is turned on or you'll miss the whole point. The timing of having this sent to me is a bit strange. I've been trying lately (in small doses) to get my head around Revelations. No matter how much I read it, I still struggle to understand it.

A girl in our photo group sent this video to us today and then we all chatted about it. I was floored that after going to church off and on for so many years that I had never heard about The Rapture. Now, my belief is that Jesus will be coming back and that he takes with him those who love him and the rest go to Hell (that's what I've been taught since I was little). It was explained to me today by several people (different denominations) that The Rapture is the moment that Jesus comes back to earth, takes all who are with him and then there's basically seven years of hell on earth for those left. Ummm, why has no one ever told me about this????

You all probably know all about this and think that I'm a looney toon, but this kind of blew me away today. Mom also told me that's why tombstones all faced east, because when Christ comes back the bible says that Christ will come from the east. Very interesting, I never even noticed that.

There's a book/video series called "Left Behind" that several of the girls in my photo group have read. There's debate as to how accurate it is. I was told today that it might give you possible insight on what could happen, but you shouldn't base your theology on it.

Anyway, it's a powerful video. Very thought provoking.

First day of school....

He was so excited to go back for his second year of preschool and these twelve hours of peace each week will do me some good too. Backpack on, lunch packed and we were on our way! D likes to make his own lunchables by using mini cookie cutters and cutting out meat and cheese according to the season (okay, maybe it's his mommy that likes to do that ;). I'm loving the super cool superman lunchbox he picked out this year. He's now been back to school for three days and is really enjoying it.

For the first couple of years my mom always took a picture of me on Granny and Grandaddy's front porch on the way to school. I decided to continue the tradition with Dawson on our own porch. He insisted on wearing his new school shirt the very first day and these pants that barely fit. He likes to dress himself so what's a mom to do?

You say smile...........and this is what you get!

Ahhhhh, that's better. Not as sincere but much better.

Cool superman lunchbox WITH a cape attached to it!

First thing we do at school every day - put the lunchbox on the cart.

My little baby climbing the big stairs to go to school.

New friends, new things to learn, great new teacher. Life is good!

Meemaw's boys

Nicolas was visiting mom for the day so of course I took the opportunity to go steal every single bit of sugar that he has, before anyone else has a chance to get any =). Greedy, I know, but I don't care! I just love these two pictures. One, he's in the swing looking up at Dawson, and in the other I just love the way that Nicolas has his hands in Dawson's hair. These two are going to have big fun together as life goes on. I can just see it in their eyes!

My soccer guy!!

I (little Miss wait until the last minute) just signed Dawson up for Soccer last week four days before his first game =). I guess that's neither here nor there, but don't think that you were excluded if this is the first that you're hearing about it =). He is most excited about his uniform. He struts around in that uniform and just thinks that he's the cats pajamas. The day that I bought his uniforms he wanted to wear them right away and pretty much didn't take them off for the next three days. We did convince him to take them off to take a bath and sleep but that was about it. The first day he tried them on he wanted to have a "soccer ball uniform photo shoot". So, of course I happily obliged......

Dr come to help

So, Dawson goes for his well child apt on Monday. He decides the night before that he needs to take his doctors kit to check out our family doctor and he also wants to give him a bill. I asked him what his doctors name was, practice name was and how much he wanted to charge. His signature looks surprisingly similar to our doctors signature =). Here's a scan of the bill that he gave him.

I am a loser!

Yes, I sit here forming the L with my fingers and it is pasted to my forehead. I have to admit that I am a Big Brother addict. It's true. I'm ashamed, but I am. I'm also deeply saddened by the fact that it's almost over. Sniff Sniff. I don't care who wins, but will miss it when it's gone.

Could I "BEeeee" any further behind???

Said with my best Chandler Bing voice. I'm sorry that I'm so far behind on blogging. And sadly enough my house is still a mess, the laundry is still behind, I have piles of paper on my desk and no idea what they are, have business phone calls and emails coming out of my ears and I'm about seven sessions behind on proofing. Not sure what my point is, but I'll try to catch up - I promise!
